Lieutenant Reed Baer

 

Support Services is one of the three divisions within the police department. This division is responsible for ensuring the officers that are performing police duties have the appropriate resources to accomplish the department's goal and objectives.  Support Services include Fleet, Community Services, Communications, Records, Code Enforcement, Animal Control, Parking Enforcement and Recruitment.

 

Lieutenant Reed Baer is Commander of the Support Services Division.  Baer is a native of Hickory and received his undergraduate from East Carolina University.  Lt. Baer has served in both Patrol and Support Services Division before being assigned to the Chief's Office as a Special Investigator and Inspections Supervisor.  Baer is a member of the NC Law Enforcement Officers Association, NC Gang Investigators Association and NC Internal Affairs Investigators Association. 

 

Recruitment and career development of coworkers is an important function of this division. Sergeant Brad Edwards supervises recruitment and career development.  Sergeant Edwards talks to each individual coworker to seek his or her career goals and "maps" a plan that will benefit both the coworker and the department.   Edwards also attends many college and high school career days to seek potential employees for the police department.  Sgt.
