Captain Gary Lee is the Commander for the Patrol Division.   Captain Lee is a native of Caldwell County where he graduated from high school and received an Associate Degree in Computer Programming from Caldwell Community College.  After working in the banking industry, Lee joined Hickory Police Department in September 1986.  Lee continued his education graduating from Gardner Webb University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.  Lee has spent most of his career in the Patrol Division but has served as a supervisor in the Support Services Division and as an Investigator in the Criminal Investigations Division.  His most recent assignment had been the P.A.C.T. Commander of Charles P.A.C.T. 

 

Captain Gary Lee is looking forward to directly contributing to the leadership and growth of the Hickory Police Department as a member of the Department's management team.  As Patrol Commander Lee will utilize and expand his management, investigative and patrol skills while helping to make Hickory a safe place to live, work and play.

 

Lee is a member of the NC Police Executives Association and the NC Law Enforcement Officers Association.  Lee and his wife Regina have three children, Chris, Scott and Cheyenne.
