Hickory Police Department is committed to providing the highest quality of police service to our customers; the citizen's of and visitors to our city.  Dedicated to improving the quality of life in our city, our department will work in partnership with our community to provide a high degree of effective and efficient public safety while maintaining respect for cultural diversity and individual rights and dignity.

 
The Hickory Police Department is a full service municipal police agency comprised of 142 fulltime coworkers. The department handled over 39,125 non officer initiated calls for services for citizens in 2009. The department operates under a philosophy of community based policing.

Citizen's Police Academy will begin Thursday, August 26, 2010.  To attend Citizen's Police Academy please fill out the application and mail to Sgt. Keith Yoder, Hickory Police Department.  You may also fax application to Sgt. Keith Yoder at (828) 328-6146. 
 
The 2nd annual NC Special Olympics Pro's, Joe's and Doe's Flag Football Tournament has been scheduled for Saturday, Spetember 18, 2010,  at the Highland Recreation Center in Hickory.   We also have the support of Mike Johnson's Hickory Toyota and the Crowne Plaza Hotel of Hickory!  We will have room for 64 teams on a first come, first serve basis.  Registration will be $200 per 6 person team and all proceeds will go to Special Olympics NC.
 

Tournament Highlights will include:

·         Customized medals for each member of the championship teams

·         DJ to announce and play music between games

·         Food vendors

·         City park has indoor and outdoor playground facilities for children

·         Indoor restrooms
 

Please complete the entry form and return to Captain Thurman Whisnant by Friday, September 10, 2010.
